Steve B. Park, MD

Steve B. Park, M.D. is the founder of Cornerstone Eye Associates. After receiving a B.A. degree in chemistry from Northwestern University, he earned his M.D. degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1986. He completed a medical internship at Beth Israel Hospital in New York City and then an ophthalmology residency at Case Western Reserve University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio. He came to Rochester to finish his sub specialty training in the Cornea and External Disease at the University of Rochester, NY. Dr. Park’s special interests are in cataract and corneal transplant surgeries, in addition to medical glaucoma. He has published over 25 articles and abstracts in peer reviewed medical journals. He is the first cataract surgeon in Rochester to have performed topical anesthesia cataract surgery and provides the most up to date technologies and techniques in the field. He is also the only corneal surgeon in Rochester to provide collagen cross linking for keratoconus and performs the latest corneal transplantation techniques such as endothelial transplantation. Dr. Park is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is an active member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS.) He currently is an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine. Omar E. Hanuch, MD, FACS

After graduating with honors from the National University of Cordoba Medical School in his native Argentina, Dr. Hanuch completed a General Medical residency in Chicago’s Hinsdale Hospital/Rush Medical School. He then completed a Post Doctoral Research Fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at the University of Rochester under the direction of Dr. James Aquavella, followed by a Surgical Ophthalmology Residency at the same institution. His involvement in Refractive Surgery is reflected in important peer reviewed scientific publications in leading Ophthalmology journals. During this period, the National Eye Institute awarded him for his contributions to this field. Dr. Hanuch is Board Certified in Ophthalmology and Family Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and The American College of Surgeons. He is a member of multiple professional associations including the International Society of Refractive Surgery as well as the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Hanuch is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester and has been actively involved in Refractive Surgery since its FDA approval in 1995. He brings his experience and the latest advancements to Cornerstone Eye Associates as they prove safe for his patients. Furthermore, Dr. Hanuch is dedicated to providing compassionate care with state-of-the-art technology in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with visual concerns. Ying Qian, MD, PhD

Ying Qian, M.D., Ph.D. completed an ophthalmology residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center, and a Cornea and Refractive Surgery fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary of Harvard Medical School. Dr. Qian is board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Her clinical interests include cataract, advanced intraocular lens technology, corneal diseases & transplants, LASIK refractive surgery, and comprehensive eye care. She performs surgery at Cornerstone Surgery Center, Brighton Surgery Center, and Rochester General Hospital Surgery Center. She has medical staff privileges at Strong Memorial Hospital and the Rochester Regional Health Systems, where she is also actively involved in resident teaching. In addition to the clinical work, Dr. Qian conducted corneal transplantation research at the Schepens Eye Research Institute. She published her original work in peer reviewed medical journals such as Cornea Archives of Ophthalmology, and Investigative Ophthalmology & Vision Science. She is a member of American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and International Society of Refractive Surgery.

Priya Gupta, MD

Priya R. Gupta, M.D. brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Cornerstone Eye Associates. She received her undergraduate degree from Cornell University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Gupta received her medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College, where she graduated with a Distinction in Research. She completed her ophthalmology residency at Duke University, known for its rigorous surgical training. Subsequently, she pursued further subspecialty training, completing a clinical fellowship in Inherited Retinal Degenerations from Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary/Harvard Medical School. She is dedicated to advancing the field of ophthalmology, with numerous first author publications and has been awarded national research grants through organizations such as the Foundation Fighting Blindness and Research to Prevent Blindness. Dr. Gupta is board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Her highly specialized training and expertise in ophthalmology, combined with her commitment to patient-centered compassionate care, make her an invaluable asset to Cornerstone Eye Associates. She is a Rochester native and is excited to return here to care for her hometown community. Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Gupta has a passion for dance and enjoys Bharatnatyam, a classical Indian dance form, as well as Bhangra. Her diverse interests also extend to martial arts (holding a 3rd degree black belt in Isshin Ryu Karate), and sketching, showcasing her creative and active pursuits beyond the medical field.

Paul C. Hanlon, OD

Paul C. Hanlon, O.D. earned his B.S. in Biology from King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, PA. and his Doctor of Optometry degree at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois. He was a continuous member of the Dean’s Honor Roll. After graduating with honors, he joined the medical department of Eastman Kodak Co. in Rochester, N.Y. Before joining the staff of Cornerstone Eye Associates in January 2007, he owned and operated a private Optometric practice in Gates, where he specialized in contact lenses and comprehensive eye care. He is a clinical investigator for various contact lens and pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Hanlon’s experience includes comprehensive medical eye examinations with diagnosis, treatment and co-management of patients with cataracts, glaucoma and diabetes. Dr. Hanlon is pleased to provide his experience in personalized eye care to Cornerstone Eye Associates. Kevin J. Chaisson, OD

As a graduate of the University of Rochester, in Microbiology, Dr. Kevin Chaisson chose the path of eye care because of his firm belief that the eyes are one of the greatest gifts we are given. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Visual Sciences from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry graduating in 1989 and continued on to receive his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1992. His strongest belief is that most vision loss for most patients can be easily prevented with ongoing comprehensive eye care throughout a patient’s lifetime. During his final years at the University of Rochester, Dr. Chaisson was employed by the Rochester Eye & Human Parts Bank where he harvested eyes from donors to be used for transplants. Giving the gift of sight to patients who otherwise would have suffered substantial vision loss was truly rewarding and further cemented his decision to pursue a career in Optometry. Patients are immediately at ease with Dr. Chaisson due to his innate ability to make them feel comfortable, and his way of explaining their ocular health in a manner that is simple to understand. Dr. Chaisson states, “I encourage my patients to ask questions about their eye health; the more a patient understands his or her condition, the better opportunity for the doctor and patient to design an effective treatment plan that is in the best interest of the patient.” Dr. Chaisson provides unparalleled comprehensive eye care. Services provided by him include, but are not limited to; eye health examinations, specialty contact lens evaluations and treatment of ocular diseases. He is an integral part of the Cornerstone Refractive Team providing consultations that determine a patient’s candidacy for surgery as well as providing postoperative care. In his spare time, Dr. Chaisson enjoys photography, music and the culinary arts.
